✿ Favorite Books ✿

hiya~

It's me againnn (: I'm really bad at this Blogmas thing, so I'm just not gonna try as hard anymore. This is my post for today, and it kinda sucks. I have writers' block right now, and I was just reading a really good book after my finals tests today so I decided this would be my post for today.

If you've read the title, you've probably guessed that it's my favorite books!!!!!!!1!!! w0w so exciting!!!!!11!! (LOL @ my ironic 1's in my exclamation points)

Most of the time I like romance novels, but they're not like chick lit. Most have serious messages and themes underlying. I like books where the author's words sound like poetry. Whenever I read a book, I like to highlight parts that I love, and sometimes I'll flip through books and just read the highlighted words because they're so eloquent.

Here it goes ^~^

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

If you know me, you know I love me some John Green. This was the first John Green book I'd ever read, and I loved it soo much. Here's a quick warning: don't read the ending in public because you'll definitely start bawling. Basically this book is about Hazel Grace, who's a sixteen year old girl with lung cancer. She meets Augustus Waters at a cancer event, and they fall in love. It's an amazing story about how true love could be anywhere, and that imperfection is beautiful. It's definitely a book you should read before you die.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

This book is also a love story, about a girl named Eleanor who's chunky and redheaded and poor, who falls in love with Park, a Korean boy. Eleanor also struggles with her family problems, because she's terribly poor and has a terrible stepfather. It's such a touching story, and the themes are really similar to those in the Fault in Our Stars. They also talk about good music a lot, and it's set in older times. This is such a feel-good book, and it didn't make me cry loool.

Paper Towns by John Green

This is definitely my favorite book of all time. It's so touching and fabulous, and John Green's words in this book are particularly eloquent. I love the storyline, and it's not cliche like most love stories are nowadays. It's a lot about friendship, and basically has comedy, adventure, romance, and mystery all in one book. You should see my copy of this book! There are is so much highlighting it's scary.
This book is basically about a boy who searches for the girl he loves, and the ending is fantastic.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

This book is such a gem. It's a sad story, but it really opens your eyes to the cruelties of the world. I think that if there was a book everyone in the world should read, it's this book. It's very very sad, and I found it really scary because it dealt with a lot of suicide and how fragile a life is. This book explains why Hannah Baker committed suicide; she leaves a pack of cassette tapes in which she has a tape for everyone that lead her to killing herself. It's incredibly serious and intense.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I love the movie for this novel, so after I saw it, I read the book. The book is basically identical to the movie, and it's got amazing prose. I love the theme of this story, and the characters. Basically, the story is about Charlie, who is writing to you, the reader, as a pen pal. He tells you about his problems, and starting high school. This book really stresses friendship, yet explores tense themes like homosexuality and bullying. The ending is a crazy one and totally unexpected. I definitely recommend seeing the movie as well!

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Again, this book is probably one of my favorites of all time, after Paper Towns. I'm currently reading this, and I'm on the fourth chapter, and totally hooked. I loved the movie to death, and the prose in this book is soo amazing. Everyone knows the storyline for this, so I'm not going to give a summary (: This is probably the best classic book I've ever read.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I'm not entirely sure if you've read this because of school, but I read it in sixth grade for fun, and I thought it was the best book ever. I still love this book to death, and it used to be my favorite until I read Gatsby and Paper Towns. It's about Scout, a young girl whose father has been chosen to represent a black man accused of raping a white woman in court. Overall, it's an amazing book with great themes and messages scattered throughout. The movie's fantastic as well!
